Program review

Yesterday, I saw a program in Discovery Channel about the prospering industry in India. To me, I also have some interest in business. However, I can’t see the bright future of Taiwan as India’s.

Business is an indispensable part to Taiwan. As a small island, Taiwan owns limited natural resource. In order to keep living, exchanging goods with other countries is very important. My interest in business blossomed in my junior high school year. It was the time when my father worked in an international trading company. My father with his experience in the business company encouraged me to read some books and magazines related to business. He told me that business has great power. It had the strength to influence the worldwide economy. Because of my father’s remark, I started to take business courses when I was in high school and I found out business was really interesting despite the tough report. Therefore, I decided to engage in jobs related to business.

I discover that Taiwan is a place where a lot of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) locate. The workers in Taiwan have excellent techniques and some worldwide famous companies such as IBM and Panasonic used to set OEM factories here. However, because of the fast economy growth and low worker salary in People's Republic of China, a lot of companies decide to move their factories to China due to the considerations of capital and profit. Demand for workers decreases gradually. As the result, some people have to go to China or even move to there in order to maintain their jobs. However, since Taiwan's workers own such good techniques, why not create our own brand and manufacture goods by ourselves.

Reunion

Last week, I went back to Kaohsiung, for the weather was getting colder and I had to pack some clothes. Surprisingly, my family got a reunion far away in Taitung

My uncle had a serious illness last year, but, with the operation done, he was getting better and better now. Since having to go back and forth to the hospital for subsequent consultation every week, he didn’t have much leisure time. About a couple of months ago, doctor announced that he could go to the hospital once a month now. For that reason, he could do his favorite thing like fishing and sightseeing in the east part of Taiwan. Last Saturday, he invited my father and mother to go to the Chung Kung Port of Taitung. On that day, they took the road early in the morning and we set out at about nine. Though the road is winding, the beauty and marvelous scene are really worth seeing. We arrived at about noon and amazed to find that my aunt and my oldest cousin were there. My aunt lives in Pingtung. She rarely go to another county for her husband being a busy teacher. He never had the time to take her out. Therefore, she was really excited and bought a lot of fish she liked there. More than that, I had not seen my oldest cousin since the last reunion we had in Chinese New Year. He works in Hsinchu Science Park. I have heard that people working there had a lot of pressure. However, it seems he doesn’t have that kind of problem. For the moment I saw him last Saturday, I thought he must have grown another ten kilograms. However, the most important thing is that he likes his job and enjoys it a lot. After that, we had a great feast and talked about what we have been lately.

This year is the first year that I go to another city for education. Meeting every family member seems so normal to me before. However, when I have been here in Taichung for about a month, I really know what the homesickness others talk about. I’ll treasure my family more and cherish the time being with the

Surprise!!

I feel really excited today. A friend that I haven’t met for about a year sends me a message. What makes me surprised is that she knows that I am admitted to NCHU and how I have been lately. Though happy about her message, I feel sorry that it seems I ignore her a little bit.
Just about two years ago, I met her at the cram school. We were very match since we all have the dream of studying business aboard. However, because of some reasons, she couldn’t help quitting her dream. After that, I went to the U.S. for my further study. For couple of months, I still got her e-mails. With my homework grew heavier, I rarely had time to write her a letter. Gradually, I lost all the news about her. Although not getting mails from me for almost a year, she still cares me very much. Now I recognize how important it is to treasure the friends you have especially those intimate ones.
I write her a letter to apologize for my ignorance of her. I get her reply just now. Considerate as usual, she says that it is okay because I am busy handling the examination. She tells me that she doesn’t give up her dream. Now working as a part-time teaching assistant, she saves the money for the tuition. I deeply respect her determination. Though hard the road of her study is, she still tries her best to achieve it. Since she has some free time at weekend, I send her the mail and ask her to visit me. We haven’t me for such a long time, so there must be a lot of things to chat for. Looking forward to our reunion!!

Anti-war

Peace is what people worldwide seek since long time ago. However, due to some complicated reason such as the problem of race, religion, and country’s interests, people quarrel and fight all the time. For me, it is quite sad to witness author’s change in the article. Forced by the circumstance at that time, he can’t help training himself to be a cruel killer in order to protect his country. Moreover, killing a chicken to eat is totally different from that of killing people. The butcher can kill fowl and cattle without hesitation because it is his job. He has to do this, though cruel, to keep the daily living. When it comes to the situation of killing people, I think everyone would tremble and fear. It is a human being, the very figure born by mother and tenderly brought up by the parents. Also, we say that everyone is born equal. No one has the right to slay others. At the first part of the story, I appreciate the author’s pity to the dying squirrel. Without emotion, people live just like a walking corpse. As for the author, I think, he can act as a spokesman and adjuster of war between countries. Only fighting and killing can’t solve the problem. There must be someone to conciliate between two sides. Moreover, United Nation and some worldwide organizations are meeting regularly to deal with the issue around the world. The purpose of that is not just try to please their alliance, but to ensure the peace between countries. I myself am an anti-war peace lover. War not only makes people suffer, but also cost extraordinary money to buy the arms. Wish the world peace forever.
